What do Orthopaedic surgeons really think of chiropractors and osteopaths? Christopher Fox, orthopedic surgeon/spinesurgeon Never in my career have I referred a patient to a chiropractor. I have seen more children with scoliosis than I can count ?observed? with chiropractic treatment as their x-rays went from observation realm to bracing realm to surgery. Some would have failed non-operative treatment but these chiropractors by claiming they could treat scoliosis really screwed many children Chiropractors have only physical modalities. Glorified, self-prescribing physical therapists is how I view chiropractors (no disrespect to physical therapists). They offer relief from some conditions. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. No medications, no injections, no surgery. I have seen ads that they could treat diabetes, asthma etc. Really? I trained in orthopedics with a chiropractor, turned physician, turned orthopedic resident. I asked him what he thought. His comment was ?chiropractic is 99% BS?. 20.4k Views · 158 Upvotes · View Timeline
